BRIDGEWATER — The Pasquaney School District is working to make it easier for the community to keep track of what is happening, creating a central website and purchasing a video camera and two wireless microphones to record school board meetings.

During the public comment period at the start of the September 17 school board meeting, residents expressed discontentment about efforts to access information on the internet, some of which is on town websites and other details are on the SAU 108 site.

Saying, “We hear your frustration, and we are definitely working on it,” Superintendent Russell Holden said, “I even get confused on where [to look on] our websites — the Village District, Pasquaney, it does get confusing. So we’re in the process of trying to condense those and squeeze those into one.”

He offered the example of contacting a school board member. “Depending on how long you want to wait, you can probably get to a school board member, but if you go to the Bridgewater one, I don’t think you can. You then have to toggle back to the [SAU] 108 site to get back over the school board. So again, we’re trying to condense that.”

Once finalized, the website will be able to provide additional information for parents and members of the community.

Saying that he has been producing the meeting minutes, Holden said having a video camera will make that task easier.

“We’re going to try something a little different,” he said, “where we’re going to record our meetings and have somebody that doesn’t have to be sitting here, that could actually do our minutes and things. If we feel like the quality of that video is good enough and the sound is good enough, we would then start a YouTube page on our website and just post those up there. So if you missed the meeting, you can go back on the next day, click on it, watch a meeting from your living room.”
