Adventures Await at Lincoln Alpine Attraction
New Hampshire provides countless opportunities to step away from one’s normally hectic life to seek new things and, perhaps, to take on completely different challenges. One of those opportunities awaits in the White Mountain community of Lincoln.
Alpine Adventures opened in 2006 with what it has billed as “the first, longest, highest, and fastest Zipline Canopy Tour in New England” and it has continued evolving since that time. In addition to the ziplines, it offers off-road adventures with six-wheel Pinzgauers — Swiss Army transport vehicles — and attractions such as the BigAirBag© jump.
Alpine Adventures’ slogan is “Get out of your element,” and it follows through with offerings for all experience levels.
For first-time adventurers, the attraction offers Tree Top Canopy Tours, with participants able to explore the forest canopy while traversing two suspension bridges. Once among the trees, visitors are able to choose from five ziplines, ranging from 250 feet long to 1,000 feet long, departing from 10-foot platforms that stand 60 feet off the ground. The Treetop Tour ends with “Zip 6” — a free-fall zipline. The total tour takes about two hours to complete, including the time on the shuttle from the Main Street office to the ziplines on Barron Mountain.
A longer, higher, and faster zipline tour, known as the Timberline Tour, was added in 2023, and is not recommended for those who are sensitive to heights. For those prepared for the challenge, the Timberline Tour offers spectacular views of the forest while zipping along as much as 200 feet off the ground. There are five ziplines, including two side-by-side lines that allow participants to race their friends. One of the lines is 1,600 feet long and it takes zipliners over several valleys. There are four suspension bridges on the tour, and the course takes about 2.5 hours to complete.
More physically challenging is the Super SkyRider Tour, which includes a 25-foot ladder climb to the next zipline departure. Those seven ziplines are faster, longer, and higher than the other tours, with nine suspension bridges. As Alpine Adventures’ most extreme tour, it is recommended for experienced zipliners only, and it takes about three hours to complete.
